Imagine if you couldn't listen to your favorite song in your own home. Imagine if you were afraid to hum a tune in the shower, or even tell an innocent bedtime story filled with magic carpets and castles and faeries to your child.. In Claim City, where we are today, the BliFFS police is constantly policing….watching and waiting to see if you play - because if you play you must pay, and most of us here in Claim City cannot pay, and the punishment is brutal. The internet is gone, all cinematic pieces are now labeled as “Collectors Items” for just the select few, there is no longer the free flow of the Arts or its information and content, and every piece of already still existing art is copyright protected by the "MSI" the ministry of soul inhibition and their enforcers, the BLiFFS. With the disappearance of the arts, magic, dreams and all inspirations slowly dissolved from the collective conscience; from peoples’ everyday life, and without the ability to freely express themselves, and the growing fear of being hunted down, humanity started losing its mind. Depression became the number one plague the world had ever witnessed. It became the leading cause of death, outpacing even Cancer; the pharmaceutical companies were all bought by one entity- the one and only MSI. These personality assassins came up with a perfect solution, a super anti depressant mood control pill called Claimbien. To keep the people in their place. By perfecting it even further, these days small doses of Claimbien are given to infants, regulating their minds to live in a world where magic is something that you need to BUY, that ART is constraint and given to citizens in very small, calculated doses; just enough to satisfy what is left from their soul and to create just enough yearning and demand for Claimbien The majority of the citizens of Claim City now, have no idea don't how to sing, forgot how to dance, they don't know how to draw - the only ones that possess these magical abilities are Angels who were sent here for the purpose of rekindling the magic and giving hope back to this world. Unfortunately most of the Angels are captured and once they have fallen into the wrong hands, their wings are chopped and NEVER grow back. These angels forget their purpose; they forget everything that is magical and good for the soul. Still able to move humans with their magic, they are now used to lure the paying audience members thirsty for any cheap thrill and sensation. This is the fate of all Angels except one: YuliX. She is sent to remind people of their dreams, to reconnect them back to their essence, to show them the magic which is within. but she has go through a painful experiences and find her own essence first before she can help others do the same. Victor, the owner of Theater Claim adds YULiX to his collection of Angels which he uses every night at the theater to steer the emotions and feeling in a crowd that has lost this ability but still longs for it like a drug- just like a drug – When the Angels performances are done for the night, Victor knows how hard it is to fill up the void, so he sends the Angels to sell Claimbien the patrons as the perfect remedy. This is making him extremely powerful, He controls the only magic in this world, he control the minds in this world, the more money he has the more ART he can purchase as this is Victors own vicious circle. Victor loves YuliX; he loves her more than all of his Angels. He knows YuliX is special, that she is an extremely magical creature who could easily realize her true potential and slip out of his control. As valuable and profitable as she is now, she can become dangerous to his operations. - And indeed his worst fears are realized when YuliXs wings are, against all rules, starting to grow back. YuliX is slowly beginning to become aware, she has bits and pieces of memories that are making no sense to her, but slowly her magic is gaining strength and instead of teasing the crowd and leaving them to want more, she accidentally ignites the audiences ability to feel and sing, ALOUD. Victors’ ego will not let him rest until he crushes YuliXs’ soul for this betrayal. She is forced to run away with the theaters musicians, whom have all been waiting for the right Angel for many years to free both themselves and the rest of the world. Yulix and the band must leave the relatively safe confines of the theatre, where they will have to confront sin, depression, hopelessness and heart break before they are free of the pill, free of the mind control, and before they make us all understand that we ALL are fucking magical.
YuliX the Opera is at first glance a love story; not only between Victor and YuliX, but it’s actually the story of LOVE. LOVE; shows its many faces, beautiful or ugly , controlling or liberating, the love between friends, the love of creation, and its power, its great undeniable power that make everything move and shake, build or break and as we choose in this play, and as we CAN chose in our life to WIN.
